Review

The Baabee Books are a valuable addition to the babies’ collection. Dayal Kaur Khalsa, an artist/yoga teacher, observed and researched young babies’ reactions to what they see and how they see.

The four board books are recommended for the one-year-old. They will no doubt be a delight for the two- and three-year-old also. The books are small enough for little hands to carry around and large enough for the vivid colours and pictures to brightly fill the page. The books are constructed from sturdy cardboard and have six sections (pages) filled with pictures, including the cover and back page.

The concept is multicultural; the babies pictured have blue, brown, or pink faces. There are no words, but common objects are represented to convey the ideas stated in the books’ titles.
