Review

Some like it hot, and this collection of hot and spicy recipes will keep many a taste-bud tingling with chili and curry, spiced drinks, and appropriate appetizers. As well as describing the preparation of food that “bites back” from India, China, Mexico, and other countries that specialize in highly flavoured and hot foods, this attractive volume suggests the proper side dishes and drinks to keep the singeing effect within bearable limits. It all looks hellishly enticing, if that is a permissible descriptor for food that will leave the diner gasping (mostly, but not entirely, with pleasure). A few hotly coloured illustrations suggest the quality of the daredevil dishes portrayed. Fold-back ring binding permits easy usage in the kitchen; measurements both imperial and metric; fully indexed.
