Review

Among the most familiar figures in Canada, the CBC regulars are undoubtedly household names. Next best to an evening with one’s favourite “personality” of the air waves is an opportunity to share with him or her a favourite meal. The attractive Air Fare is an invitation to do just that, with 35 feature articles each introducing an entertainer, followed by a description of his or her cherished recipe — and, to spice the mixture, plenty of anecdotes and photographs. Such diverse types as Wayne and Schuster (together as always!), The Royal Canadian Air Farce, Pierre Berton, Knowlton Nash, Tommy Hunter, and Lally Cadeau provide a mixture both ultra-Canadian and at the same time exotic. The recipes look delicious, are in metric measurements, and are fully indexed. Appropriate wines are recommended.
