Review

Rueggeberg and Thompson have co-authored a book dealing with a timely issue of great importance. The substance of the book is a report of a workshop for an Inquiry on Federal Water Policy. The aim of the workshop was to provide a legal background on water issues to the Inquiry. The authors have taken the substance of the workshop and attempted to present the findings in a concise and informative manner. This is not an easy task to accomplish when dealing with material of this nature, but the authors have managed to produce a fair overview with the use of generous footnoting. They have wisely included a series of appendices giving the reader access to the background papers prepared by the expert contributors to the workshop. These appendices give the reader a more in-depth appreciation of the issues involved in the formulation of a federal water policy.
