Review
Twenty-eight participants came together on March 7-9, 1984, to share their thoughts and knowledge about the mining industry at the Centre for Resource Studies in Kingston. Nine major papers are presented here, concentrating on productivity measurement, the environment of corporate and government policy planning, and productivity improvement initiatives. As well, there are some comments and discussion notes. The meshing of people from industry, government, labor, and universities is always a good thing, and through this set of papers one can see the leaders of this area grapple with such topics as long-term prospects for the Canadian mineral industry, marketing, ore grades, milling losses, and product development. An important record for the industry.
