Review

This is a reprint of the 1932 edition. The book was originally published in 1917, and it was based on explorations in the Red Deer Valley in Alberta in 1912. Sternberg pioneered scientific techniques used in fossil excavation, and he made many of the most important fossil discoveries of Western Canadian exploration. The richest dinosaur field in the world is in the Alberta Badlands, particularly in the area now called Dinosaur Provincial Park. There are some good, entertaining stories here as well as information on the scientific approaches to excavations.
