Sheila Martindale is poetry editor of Canadian Author and Bookman and
author of No Greater Love, her sixth collection of poetry.
This is a lovely, fact-filled, picture book about animals and their young in the far north. The text is simple and the print clear, making a good complement to Olena Kassian’s truly marvellous illustrations. Excellent for the pre-school set and up to the early grades. My only concern is that the book could foster the opinion among non-Canadians that the Arctic climate prevails throughout the entire country. However, that is a small detail that in no way detracts from this beautiful publication.
