Review

Shelley, Jasmine, and Tara Cairo have written a straightforward account of a Down’s Syndrome child as seen through the eyes of his two older sisters. The girls try to make the reader aware that, although Jai is “special,” he is also very much like other children with some additional needs. The story explains to the reader how a family deals with such a child and how readily he is accepted and loved by them.

The photos that accompany the story enhance each segment and help the reader realize this little boy is indeed part of a caring family. Some of the photos are outstanding.

This book is highly recommended for all young children, who will in all likelihood encounter a Down’s Syndrome child in their lives. It lovingly depicts that indeed “everyone is special.”
