Review

The authors of this book are bed and breakfast operators themselves. They have drawn from their own experience to compile a very thorough list of over one hundred bed and breakfast establishments in Nova Scotia.

The book is arranged by county, then alphabetically by community; there is a map of each county. An index of communities is at the back of the book. For each bed and breakfast listed we are provided with the name of the operator, the complete address, telephone number, and precise directions on how to find it. We are also given detailed information about the number of bedrooms and bathrooms; whether or not they welcome children, cyclists, or smokers; meals; snacks; handicapped access; the surrounding area; a drawing of the house; and many other things. The price, however, is not included, since the authors felt that such information would go out of date too quickly. At the end of the book is an evaluation form, a page or two on how to act like a guest, and advice for those considering running a bed and breakfast themselves.

The book is strongly recommended for anyone thinking of staying in a Nova Scotia bed and breakfast.
