Review

Ciaran O’Faircheallaigh’s Mine Infrastructure discusses “the link between provision of infrastructure for mining projects and establishment of more broadly based economic development in North Australia.”

The paper opens with a general outline of principles and policies of mine infrastructure, followed by case histories of specific manganese, gold and copper, uranium, and iron ore mines.

Although the cases are Australian, O’Faircheallaigh has studied the impact of large-scale mineral development in many countries, and many of his conclusions are equally applicable to the Canadian mining industry.
