Review
First published in 1979 by General Publishing, this welcome fourth edition now includes the 1985 federal Divorce Act (from June 1, 1986) and the 1986 Ontario Family Law Act. Together with the associated forms for do-it-yourselfers, they represent about half of the book. The topics embrace marriage, separation, divorce, alimony, child support, child custody, property rights, inheritance, access, and domestic contracts. The author has long been an instructor in family law in the Bar Admission course at Osgoode Hall in Toronto.
The emphasis in the book is, of course, on Ontario. This is unavoidable. But the book is a good reference guide for outside the province as well, and it is certainly useful for the researcher or journalist who needs to know more about family law in general.
