Review

Calorie count is almost as important as taste to today’s cooks and those who enjoy their specialties. This collection of 150 recipes, each with 300 or fewer calories per serving as promised in the title, offers a variety of low-calorie dishes under sections on fish; chicken; veal and pork; beef and hamburger; chili, pizza, beans, pasta and potatoes; and dips, dressings, sauces and miscellaneous; plus a conversion chart (imperial to metric, fahrenheit to celsius, equivalent amounts) and a calorie chart, as well as full indexing, with an order form for additional copies if required.

Attractively presented, this off-white paperback is sturdily ring-bound for convenient fold-back kitchen use; is brightened by several full-page color photographs of some of the tempting dishes featured; and includes general information tips for the dieter on almost every page. For the further encouragement of chubby readers, little silhouette figures lose weight steadily, attaining pencil slimness as the pages turn.
