Review

A selective bibliography of nearly 700 works with a contemporary (1970s-1980s) emphasis, Aboriginal Self-government includes materials that address the issue at both local and constitutional levels. Although Canada is the focus of the bibliography, works consisting of international comparative research concerning aboriginal rights in common law countries are listed as well. Self-determination as a topic is only used when related with self-government.

This study concentrates on works accessed through academic publications, and those available through the following Ottawa-based libraries: the Library of Parliament, the National Library of Canada, the Native Council of Canada, the Assembly of First Nations Library, and the Department of Indian Affairs Library. Newspaper and local magazine articles are omitted. References include location notes (when the work is not available in government or academic libraries) and are organized alphabetically by author. An index is provided.
