Junk Drawer Jewelry addresses the art of creating one-of-a-kind jewelry
using found materials and unusual items from hardware, fabric, and craft
supply stores. Sixteen projects are featured; some of these include a
bracelet made from electrical wire, an anklet made from a bathtub chain,
a wristband made from duct tape, and earrings made from jump rings.
Required materials and tools are listed. Numbered steps keep the
instructions organized and clear. Each step is accompanied by a colour
diagram for further elucidation. A close-up photograph showcases the
finished product.
The projects are easy and attractive, and have the appeal of the
vintage, eclectic, recycled look that is in vogue today. The
introductory unit on safety and tools (glue guns, pliers, wire cutters,
jewelry findings, various plastics, etc.) is invaluable. Most of the
projects incorporate alternative ideas to further personalize and
individualize the finished product. This manual is a must-have for young
crafters. Highly recommended.
