Spring Planting is a play about family dynamics by an award-winning
playwright who is currently affiliated with the drama department at
Concordia University.
The play centres on two widowed neighbors: 81-year-old Garnet and
40-something Jill. Garnet is struggling to cope with his own illiteracy
and the consequent difficulties he has relating to his grandson, who is
attending graduate school. Jill has her own domestic problems: a hostile
15-year-old daughter who is a constant frustration and who has an
abusive new boyfriend. These tortuous family relationships lead to an
explosive climax.
In this play, Kit Brennan has created situations and characters that
stay in the mind long after the curtain has fallen.
