Review

Inappropriate Behaviour is a collection of short stories about average
women with some not-so-average problems. In this volume we find, among
other characters, a student nurse who has rather normal feelings in an
inappropriate location, a mother who is dealing with a deformity in her
unborn child, and a mother who is worried about the presence of a
pedophile in her neighborhood. All these women engage in some form of
“inappropriate behaviour.”

Mock’s stories are not lacking in human interest. Indeed, they raise
thought-provoking ideas and issues. What they do not do is convey a
depth of emotion that would make them truly memorable.
