Review
A good country inn embodies so many of the values sought after by
today’s traveler: a sense of history, graciousness and tranquility,
uniqueness, quality, meticulous cleanliness, and personal attention.
This guide introduces 26 inns that deliver on all these. It is a
collection of the finest small inns in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and
Prince Edward Island, presented with a warm text and color photos that
draw the reader into their circle of calm. As you turn the pages,
examine the architectural details, the luxurious grounds, the charming
antiques; you can almost smell the blueberry muffins fresh from the oven
and nearly taste the homemade jam.
The work starts with a brief overview of each of the three provinces
from a tourist’s perspective, which is followed by an up-close review
of each inn. We’re given verbal and visual descriptions (interiors and
exteriors), the owners’ names, a thumbnail history, availability of
meals, furnishings, number of rooms, rates, and all the details needed
to make reservations and find one’s way there.
The text for each inn highlights nearby attractions as well as
recreational, dining, and shopping opportunities, encouraging readers to
consider the inn as an integral part of a total vacation experience. A
minimum of three color photos per inn convey a good sense of the style
and atmosphere to be expected.
Country inns are an alternative to impersonal motels and offer more
privacy than bed-and-breakfasts. With this work in hand, the selection
is easy and an enjoyable stay assured.
