Review

This book is an excellent introduction to the fascinating world that
lives just out of sight but always nearby. Aimed at the curious preteen
child, it uses easily understood language, clearly drawn line
illustrations, and a series of fun and informative hands-on activities
to help the child develop a good understanding of, and even some empathy
for, the common creatures it features.

The author is careful to emphasize that these are living creatures and
must be treated as such. The book’s format allows for easy access to
information about each creature. The investigations are open-ended
enough to allow further research by the reader. Predictions about
outcomes are invited, and results of the experiments are confirmed and
explained.

This book is sure to be of value to any child who is interested in the
world of creepy crawlies. It will also help their parents better
understand and answer questions about these creatures.
