Review

Scientists of all ages will rush to try out their skills with the help
of this book of experiments from the staff of the Ontario Science
Centre. A yellow background is used to highlight the lively,
easy-to-read text and black-and-white sketches.

Other titles in this series include Scienceworks, Foodworks, Have Fun
With Magnifying, and How Sport Works. Activities are simple, safe, and
fun, using common household items.

Each experiment reads like a recipe, with a list of ingredients and
step-by-step instructions. A question is asked, extra hints are given
(sometimes to try the experiment another way), and a “What’s
Happening?” box explains how and why the experiment worked.

Experiments involve the use of such things as food, balls, body parts,
sound and other items. The table of contents lists three dozen
experiments by title, while an index includes materials used in the
experiments and other scientific and keyword terms.
