Review

The three young explorers from We’ll All Go Sailing (2001) and We’ll
All Go Flying (2002) are back for another adventure, this time hiking
through the world’s forests. Their journey takes them from the
familiar lands of maple, spruce, and redwood trees to exotic locales.
The rhythmic verse is infectious: “We’ll all go exploring / Through
the mangrove trees, / And what will we see/In the trees, we three?”
Children will delight in lifting the flaps to reveal the partially
hidden answers. Kim LaFave’s vibrant illustrations add to the fun. A
Canada goose, a kookaburra, and a spider monkey are some of the
colourful animals the intrepid trio encounter.

At the end of their travels, the friends offer a message of
conservation: “We’ll listen and watch / Then we’ll come away, / So
you can visit / On another day.” The entire text is reprinted at the
back of the book.

The many opportunities for audience participation make this a perfect
choice for storytelling collections. Highly recommended.
