Review

This latest addition to the Discovering Canada series will be a great
help in teaching the history of New France. The text is easily
understood, the illustrations and maps most informative. A variety of
activities—ranging from plans to build a fort, to the coloring of
costumes worn in New France, to a crossword puzzle—help reinforce the
history presented. Information segments about firsts in Canada as well
as other interesting tidbits, add to our enjoyment and to our
understanding of early Canada/New France.

Unfortunately two errors occur in the text in reference to Jean de
Brebeuf: St. Ignace is approximately 10 miles east of Midland, and the
reconstructed settlement of Sainte Marie among the Hurons is located in
Midland, not Penetanguishene.
