Review

Farmer Joe travels to the city to buy his wife a birthday present. He is
accompanied by a menagerie of barnyard animals that includes pigs,
gophers, chickens, and a cow. Delighted readers will join with him in
searching for the perfect present—which has to be her favorite color,
red. The congestion of the city and busy stores in the big mall are left
behind as he finally heads home with the very special, very red present.

Author Nancy Wilcox Richards is a teacher in Queens County, Nova
Scotia. Well-known artist Werner Zimmermann provides the wonderful
illustrations.
