Review

Like many children, Louis is afraid of the dark. One particularly
uncomfortable night, when he is hot and thirsty, his wish to live on a
planet where the lights stay on all night comes true. Suddenly, he is
exploring the solar system. Despite his amazing discoveries, none of the
planets is just right. The ending is somewhat predictable, but in a
reassuring way.

From his night loneliness to his dissatisfaction with planetary
exploration, children and adults will find Louis believable and
understandable. Morgan explores his feelings in a warm sensitive way.
Her language and her use of repetition are pleasing and rhythmical. As
well, the composition and colors of her illustrations match the story
style, and the book design is eyecatching and fluid.

This interesting blend of story and pictures will provide an
entertaining and nonacademic introduction to the solar system for
children from preschool to seven years old.
