Resources and Conservation

The rainforests of South America, Central America, West Africa, and
Southeast Asia are indeed the final frontier of our world. This new
series looks at the difficulties in preserving this endangered ecosystem
and all the benefits it affords.

People and Places documents the struggle for survival of the Indigenous
people who live in the rainforests. It also covers the fauna and flora
as well as the lifestyles of the people. Resources and Conservation
presses the need for preserving the rainforest, dramatizing not only the
alarming destruction of the rainforest the world over and the resulting
climate change, but also the resulting loss of habitat, animal species,
unique foods, and important medicinal plants. Although the books present
alarming facts, they also include a section devoted to saving the
rainforest.

The books are well designed with maps, diagrams, and beautiful color
photographs complementing the text. A helpful glossary and an index are
included for easy reference. A list of addresses and Web sites has been
provided for further research by young readers. Highly recommended.
