Review

The sequel to Crazy for Horses (1999) sticks to the winning formula of
great photographs and interesting horsy information. Briggs has once
again created a book with plenty of appeal for young horse-lovers.

High-quality color photographs by Shawn Hamilton include lovely
headshots and lots of foals and horses in action. The mix is perfect for
anyone who enjoys the grace and beauty of the horse.

Each of 15 breeds is profiled, most in double-page spreads. For each
featured breed, Briggs describes where the breed originated and points
out some special characteristics. Her style is conversational and she
conveys a sense of genuine enthusiasm for her subject. Trivia,
historical notes, and interesting anecdotes are mixed with hard facts
and statistics.

The book also includes short sections on foals, riding school horses,
and wild horses as well as a list of breed organizations and Web sites
for those interested in learning more. Recommended.
