Review

Endorsed by the Canadian Medical Association, this informative,
straightforward, and, most importantly, user-friendly book about
arthritis is aimed at those who are afflicted. The author effectively
uses various literary devices to maintain reader interest, and numerous
case studies add a personal dimension to the topic. For the uninitiated,
Dr. Thompson starts with a definition of what constitutes
“rheumatology,” and then deals with everything from the preliminary
symptoms of arthritis to the complications of various treatment
modalities.

Want the whole picture? Start at page 1. Need specific information
about your own arthritic symptoms? Consult the index—it’s both
extensive and handy. One hopes that other volumes this series are as
thoughtfully planned, prepared, and produced as this one.
