Selby is determined to have a pet, despite her mother’s allergies. But
instead of discussing it with her family and reaching some sort of
compromise, Selby goes ahead and buys a snake, even though she well
knows her big sister Melissa’s aversion to such reptiles. Selby finds
that keeping a pet snake a secret is no easy task and perhaps not worth
the funny feeling in her stomach as the fibs pile up. Unexpectedly, she
finds an ally in Melissa, who, after the inevitable discovery of the
snake, offers her aid in securing a real pet and even helps Selby get
even with the bane of her existence, pesky classmate Brian Butz.

More Monsters in School is vintage Martyn Godfrey. Readers in late
primary/early junior grades will enjoy this delightful romp. It is an
ideal choice for those always on the lookout for beginning chapter
books. Recommended.
