Review
These two books, which together constitute the “Amazing Things Animals
Do” series, examine a wide variety of insects, arachnids, birds, fish,
and mammals. Baillie and Caron have designed short works that engage
readers on several levels. Little Wonders discusses communal or
individual (maternal or paternal) infant care, while Time to Eat
investigates behavior in the context of food supply. Adding to the
book’s appeal are photos and colorful illustrations, a quiz, and a
simple picture puzzle. A good addition to the personal libraries of
young environmentalists. Recommended.
