Review

Children and adults share a fascination with the seashore and all its
inhabitants. This well-organized book offers both residents and summer
visitors information and activities that will enrich and add enjoyment
to seaside adventures. Included are safety and conservation tips, along
with ideas for games and crafts. Such activity suggestions as making
scoops or wind chimes, or campfire “bring-alongs” and
“sing-alongs,” will be appreciated by those who want to make the
most of their seashore visits. The book’s focus on Canada’s East
Coast does not preclude its use by West Coast readers.

Twila Robar-DeCoste, a graduate biologist, contributes an abundance of
watercolor illustrations that are both lovely and scientifically
accurate. These include detailed drawings of animal and plant life, and
charming scenes of children and families investigating and enjoying the
seashore.

This inspired and comprehensive craft book cum nature guide would make
a fine addition to home, school, and pubic-library collections. Highly
recommended.
