Review

Welcome to the creepy, crawly world of insects, spiders, snakes, and
lizards! In the two books under review, Bockus and Bell have teamed up
to produce an intimate portrait of these often misunderstood but
fascinating animals. Both books are sturdy and well designed, and
include a 3-D StereoFocus viewer, 24 full-color stereographic cards, a
glossary, and an index. Photographs and illustrations support the
clearly written and informative text, which is supplemented by many
interesting sidebars. The easy-to-use StereoFocus glasses will serve to
develop the observational skills of young scientists.

Ideal for a child’s personal library, both books could also be used
by teachers. Limited-circulation procedures would probably need to be
established if they were placed in public or school libraries.
Recommended.
