Review
This book is a brief romance on some idealized northern lake inhabited
by common wildlife. Attractive full-page watercolors by Kathy Bedard are
loosely linked to the text. The co-location of species such as the robin
and moose, the claim that the moon (but not the stars) moves in the sky,
and the lack of page numbers all attest to the mythical stance. The
resulting impressionistic account may appeal to some children, but it is
neither substantial as literature nor informative as science writing.
Not recommended.
