Review

This fourth activity kit in the Tiny Perfect Dinosaur series, like the
earlier Presenting Ceptocerotops, Presenting Brachiosaurus, and
Presenting Tyrannosaurus Rex, includes a book, a poster, and an
easy-to-assemble dinosaur skeleton contained in a plastic
“fossilized” egg. This time, the ever-popular stegosaurus is the
focus—one of the superstars of the Late Jurassic period. The book
covers a lot of ground in spite of its tiny size. Readers will learn
about the dinosaur’s name and family tree, how fossils are made, and
what we actually know and do not know about the species’ extinction
150 million years ago.

Possibly a stegosaur fan herself, Glossop sometimes descends into
sentimentality in her text. There is no evidence, for example, that
stegosaurs were “peaceful” as she claims on the last page.
Nevertheless, by combining the book, poster, and toy, the authors have
created a fun, interactive learning tool. Recommended.
