Review

Ovarian cancer is a disease that is easily mis-diagnosed. The symptoms
are vague, and the survival rate drops sharply the longer it progresses
without detection. Any book that spreads information about this deadly
killer is a valuable resource.

Aimed primarily at ovarian cancer patients and their family and
friends, An Ovarian Cancer Companion covers the different stages of the
disease and provides information on many of the treatment options found
in both in Canada and the United States. The bulk of the book, however,
is devoted to letters and e-mails from cancer survivors, family members,
and women who succumbed to this deadly disease. The appendixes include
information about support groups and a glossary of terms. Written in
accessible language, An Ovarian Cancer Companion is informative and by
turns funny and heartbreaking.
