Review

For the experienced fundraiser, this digest of fundraising ideas and
strategies serves as a refresher course. For the novice, it provides a
great deal of basic information. The emphasis is on labor-intensive
enterprises that generate only modest returns; coverage of more
lucrative fundraising methods such as direct mail is minimal. The
reference section includes Internet as well as print resources, and
lists of arts councils and other agencies. (It is disappointing to see
amazon.com include, but not its Canadian counterparts.) The ideas are
coded on the basis of organization category and size, and time frames
are suggested (e.g., a “dream home” raffle takes a year).

Despite its limitations, this book proves inspiring to fundraisers who
are looking for something new to try.
