Review

This book will prove invaluable to anyone interested in training dogs
for search and rescue, or just wanting a glimpse into the world of
tracking training. The author covers topics ranging from how to choose a
puppy, to advanced methods of search-and-rescue tracking, to advantages
and disadvantages of different training methods in light of the
requirements of search and rescue. Gorny’s explanations are clear and
understandable, displaying a good balance between the theoretical and
the practical. The layout of the book is logical, and diagrams and
black-and-white photographs helpfully depict the techniques described in
the text. Colour photographs would have enhanced the book’s appeal,
but its most notable drawback is the lack of an index.
