Review

Are you in your 50s or younger and thinking about retirement? Are you
having a mid-life crisis? Do you worry that by the time you do retire,
you will be too unhealthy to enjoy the freedom you yearn for now? If
your answer to these questions is yes, then Enough Already! is a
must-read.

The book’s introduction asks the reader to think of mid-life crisis
in terms of mid-life opportunity. Chapter 1 looks at the false promises
of traditional retirement, as O’Hara cautions that retirement comes
too suddenly and too late for many who find themselves too old to enjoy
the dream. Chapter 2 forces the reader to recognize that many people are
in poor physical and/or financial health by the time they retire.
Subsequent chapters consider various strategies for achieving a
successful retirement, from setting financial goals to developing a
healthy lifestyle.

Enough Already! contains a wealth of useful information that baby
boomers can benefit from. The key is motivation. As O’Hara puts it:
“The second half of life … often is … the best half. But it is not
for wimps or sleepwalkers.”
