Darwin Wiggett is a full-time photographer who specializes in Canadian
landscapes, children, animals, and outdoor recreation. His images have
appeared in numerous calendars and magazines (e.g., National Geographic
Traveller, Photo Life, Time, and Maclean’s) and are available for
stock use from international photo agencies. He has published many
articles on his photographic philosophy and techniques, as well as
several pictorial works.

Dances with Light is a large-format coffee-table book that features
stunning colour photos taken over several years in the mountain parks of
Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Waterton, Kootenay, and various recreation areas
in both Alberta and British Columbia. All the pictures are identified by
subject and geographical area, but no other technical information is
provided. This is a beautiful pictorial work.

How to Photograph the Canadian Rockies is a well-organized
camera-bag-sized guidebook that provides essential advice for nature
photography enthusiasts. The book’s information is intended to help
both beginning and expert photographers “be at the right place at the
right time for the best photo opportunities in the mountains.” The
text discusses the art of capturing mountain light, the composition of
photos, and seasonal variations, and offers tips on choosing the right
equipment. The majority of the book is devoted to very specific
locations within the mountain parks of Alberta and British Columbia. All
of the images are accompanied by technical information regarding the
film, lenses, and speeds used to capture the image. This inspiring guide
is a must-have for any photographer planning a trip to the Canadian
Rockies.
