Review

This roller coaster of a play is a stimulating blend of fantasy and
realism. As the title suggests, the setting is an apocalyptic one. A
devastating rainstorm has the characters fleeing to the rooftops in
order to survive. A tattooed young runaway may or may not have been
drowned. Something evil called “Snake” lurks in the shadows. There
are recurring images of fire and breaking glass. The characters
simultaneously confront personal demons and struggle to derive meaning
from the extraordinary events taking place around them. Club Chernobyl
has a raw poetic power that would undoubtedly translate into a
compelling live production.
