Review

Akeela Davis is a certified financial planner who specializes in divorce
and separation issues. In this readable book, whose context is Canadian
law, she makes liberal use of anecdotes and case studies as she
discusses the spending/saving profiles of individuals, custody and child
support, asset division, financial settlements, and the five models of
divorce, among other topics.

Post-divorce issues such as financial management as an individual,
remarriage, marriage contracts, and pre-nuptial agreements are also
covered. Useful appendixes include six work-sheets, tips on preparing
for separation, a settlement checklist, and a list of federal and
provincial government agencies offering child support and enforcement
resources.

Divorce is traumatic and emotionally draining. This comprehensive guide
to divorce-related financial planning is designed to help individuals
make informed choices that will allow them to emerge from the experience
financially healthy.
