Whistler, B.C., made its mark on the international recreation scene as a
world-class winter resort. In 2010, it will host the Winter Olympics.
But there is much more to Whistler and the surrounding communities than
snowy slopes, glorious though they may be. For the past decade or so,
the communities have been developing and promoting their superb natural
locations as year-round destinations for outdoor fun.

This pocket guide describes what’s available in 31 recreational areas
along the Sea to Sky corridor, encompassing Squamish, Whistler, the
Pemberton Valley, and Lillooet. Besides skiing (downhill and
cross-country), snowboarding, and snowshoeing, there is an impressive
roster of other activities for the months of poor sledding: camping,
cycling and mountain biking, canoeing and kayaking, fishing, hiking,
horseback riding, rock climbing, swimming, river rafting, and nature
observation, among others. The detailed guide to each area summarizes
the activities that are available there, along with natural highlights
to look for and driving directions. Each chapter concludes with
telephone numbers and websites for local businesses devoted to the
various activities. A comprehensive index by activity concludes the
guide.
