Review
British Columbia’s marine parks protect waterways, ecosystems, and
wildlife while providing outstanding wilderness recreational
opportunities for boaters. This new and expanded edition of the guide
contains concise descriptions of 97 parks, each with a small map, colour
photographs, and historical and navigational information, including the
nautical charts required for the area. Features of particular interest
to kayakers, scuba divers, and surfers are highlighted. An introductory
map of the entire B.C. coastline from Dixon Entrance to Juan de Fuca
Strait shows the locations of all the parks, and an accompanying table
lists the parks alphabetically and summarizes their facilities and
activities. The guide groups the individual park descriptions into
geographic areas: Lower Mainland/Sunshine Coast; Southern Gulf Islands;
Northern Gulf Islands; Desolation Sound Region; Johnstone Strait; West
Coast; and North Coast. The description of a particular park can be
located easily using either the summary map or the listing by area in
the table of contents.
