Review

This small paperback covers a great deal of turf as it moves around
Prince Edward Island, exploring designated areas such as “Hills and
Harbours,” “Bays and Dunes,” and “Anne’s Land.”

The authors’ four-page introduction provides an overview of the
Island’s history, geography, culture, and lighthouses. It also serves
as a guide to six Day Tours. Subsequently, each Day Tour covers selected
Island “adventure” sites and lighthouses. Visitors are urged to move
beyond the summertime tourist areas and check other important sources of
tourist information such as the provincial Visitors Guide and the
Lighthouse Lovers Society.

Small color photos of places and people enliven every page, and there
is a helpful index. The authors are travel writers and educators who
have published two previous travel books on Atlantic Canada. The
pocketbook size of this volume is a bonus for backpackers but perhaps a
drawback for other travelers because of the exceptionally small print.
