or spoken by women. The quotes are humorous and incisive, and range in
time from an anonymous 15th-century source to Nora Ephron and Phyllis
Schlafly. That the editor has not included anything by Madonna is
evidence of both her good judgment and the serious nature of the book.
Sexuality, communications between the sexes, and the double standard are
among the categories covered. In her introduction, Wylie provides a
