Review

The late Eric Chodak and his brother-in-law, Barry Seltzer, both
lawyers, compiled this collection of bizarre but true legal cases that
were heard in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and
Australia. While their intention was to amaze and amuse, there is more
pathos than humor in the cases presented here. Rarely longer than a page
or two, they are riddled with puns and clichés, and elicit more groans
than chuckles. A few are in questionable taste, while others are simply
ridiculous. Why the courts would even bother to hear some of these
ludicrous cases is just one of the questions this book fails to address.

There is a lesson to be learned from this book: stay as far away from
courts of law as possible.
