Review

Conceived by the Vancouver Port Corporation in recognition of the 200th
anniversary of Captain Vancouver’s expedition to Canada’s West
Coast, this coffee-table album of historical and fine contemporary
photographs celebrates Canada’s biggest and busiest commercial port. A
fact-filled narrative binds the photos and their captions into a
cohesive presentation on the Port and its traffic. Chapters are devoted
to the cruise ships, containers, and bulk cargos that are its stock in
trade, to its history, and to its future opportunities serving the
customers of the 21st century. The book lacks an index, making it
necessary to browse for specific pieces of information, but it is
otherwise an interesting and informative addition to the “Vancouver
collection.”
