Review

This book is an updated edition of veteran diver Betty Pratt-Johnson’s
popular guide 99 Dives. The growth of scuba diving on the coast of
British Columbia and in neighboring Washington State has resulted from
the discovery of some of the most interesting sites on the continent.

The author, who has been diving in the Strait of Georgia and in Puget
Sound for 27 years, provides in this guide basic information about
facilities and sites. The 101 dives are arranged geographically in four
chapters: Vancouver, Howe Sound, and Indian Arm; Sechelt Peninsula;
Powell River and North; and Seattle, Tacoma, and Puget Sound. Each site
is clearly shown on an introductory map and identified as a shore dive,
kayak dive, or boat dive. Included are 5 maps, 101 nautical charts, and
121 photographs, and an excellent index. No clearer, more complete guide
to Northcoast diving exists.
