Review

This book is a very accessible introduction to living a better life by
concentrating on what is important to living and gradually letting go of
the consumption-driven complexities of the times. Voluntary simplicity,
according to author Mark Burch, is the way to improve life without
reducing or depriving oneself of quality of life.

In the first part of the book, Burch presents his ideas and
experiences, which are drawn from a variety of sources as well as from
his own integration of these ideas in his life. In the second part, he
presents ways for the reader to explore these ideas, such as in personal
meditations and guided imagery, or through explorations in group and
workshop formats. His ideas are well presented, the explorations
provocative and useful. For those wanting to improve their lifestyle or
to decrease their dependence on material goods, Simplicity is a helpful
guide.
