Chronicles of Pride: A Teacher Resource Guide

Logie, an established painter of 31 portraits of leading First Nations
representatives, now describes them in this guide with the help of
Native Indian educator Kilroy. With these work histories, poster
reproductions of the portraits, and detailed suggestions for activities,
teachers can plan study units as part of a social studies, language
arts, fine arts, or integrated curriculum for their elementary and
secondary students. Educational procedures to develop knowledge,
understanding and abilities, attitudes, and esthetic expression are
suggested. Maps showing the geographic location of each Native Indian
nation with a listing of additional print and audio-visual resources are
included. Study activities for each portrait cover visual and performing
arts education, people helping people, First Nations rights, politics
and the law, and keeping tradition alive.
