Canadian provincial and federal governments give away about $10 billion
annually in grants for everything from agriculture to small business
start-up to the arts and youth initiatives. This book pulls together a
myriad of information to help individual citizens start to look towards
their share of this wealth.

The introductory sections of Easy Money deal with the organization of
the book, and offer insiders’ tips on the best way to go about getting
government funds. Most of the rest of the book is devoted to brief
descriptions of grant programs, government departments, and government
agencies. The section on the federal government is organized by
department, and the provincial section is organized by province (and
within province, alphabetically by grant program).

Three appendices and a subject index complete this compendium. The
first appendix gives a central enquiry telephone number for grant
programs in each province and territory. The second gives contact
telephone numbers in each province for federal agencies such as
Statistics Canada and Supply and Services, plus toll-free telephone
numbers for federal departments. The third names more detailed reference
sources, such as the Richard de Boo and CCH services.

This volume will be useful in all libraries, since it deals with a
diversity of types of grants in a diversity of areas of interest. It
will also be a worthwhile acquisition for individuals, businesses or
nonprofit organizations pursuing outside funding.
