Review

This little photo album presents approximately 70 color snapshots of
Prince Edward County in Southern Ontario.

The work’s usefulness suffers considerably from an almost complete
absence of text. Even the photo captions are too brief to be
informative, and basics such as a map are missing. The photographers
remain anonymous.

The photos lack a theme, but are unified by the consistent choice of
clean, bright, pretty scenes. The result is not so much a portrait as a
tourist brochure in book form. We’re shown the white beaches, the
gracious Victorian homes, the bountiful harvests, the historic sites,
and the tranquil, pastoral scenes. If this book has a point, purpose, or
use, it remains hidden.
